FOLIC ACID 7.26.95
Not feeling too well?
Maybe you haven’t had your
minimum daily requirement of folic acid.....
There are several new
studies out that indicate a simple vitamin deficiency
may be the cause of 30% to 40%
of heart attacks and strokes we suffer in the United States each year.
The simple vitamin we’re
deficient of ?
It’s called folic acid.
Uh-huh...folic acid.
You can find it in green,
leafy vegetables like brussel sprouts, spinach and lettuce, and in many fruits
such as apples and oranges. Other
studies have found folic acid to be a fountain of good health as well. In
recent years, it’s been cited as playing a major role in preventing birth
defects.
Now when I finished reading
about these “new” studies and “new” discoveries about health and nutrition, it
prompted me to go back and re-read an old health and nutrition study in the
Bible. If you’re curious, you’ll find
it in the first chapter of a book called Daniel. The man after whom this book was named was in training to serve
the king, which required that he eat of the king’s “find foods” ...foods that
he and his buddies wanted no part of. Instead, Daniel wanted vegetables and
water for himself and his friends.
Which they got...and ate...and after a week and a half, were feeling
better and looking healthier than those who ate the king’s “delicacies”...
delicacies in all likelihood devoid of folic acid.
Boy, if the king only knew
that his food had no folic acid.
Boy, if the king only knew
what folic acid was....
But then again, I’m not sure
Daniel was all that familiar with folic acid either, but I am sure he was well
acquainted with its results. The
benefits of healthy eating isn’t any new concept. Daniel and his cohorts were practicing the art of a good diet
thousands of years ago.
I’d love to tell you
more...but...well...that’s it, really.
There’s no deep spiritual point to be made here. It just brings a smile to my face to read
about 21st century
science making new health discoveries...discoveries that were written down in
the Bible centuries ago.
