TRAFFIC        8.9.95

This traffic report brought to you by ... ME ... a man in need of some wise direction.

It was a rainy day.

No, make that, a stormy day.

No, no, no ... correction ...

It was a gully-washer.

Streams were rising. Creeks were overflowing. Saabs and Suburbans sitting in a traffic jam, stuck behind Noah’s Ark.

You get the picture. The heavy rain was producing unusually heavy traffic.

Now this is the part where I come in.

Or perhaps it’s more accurate to say that this is the part where I’m getting out ... at least I’m attempting to get out ... of a parking lot, that is. I was trying to make a left-hand turn due south.

Problem was, there were too many cars heading due north.  My path was blocked...until one kind gentleman idled long enough to give me an opening.  Still, I hesitated, because still, my vision was impaired.  I couldn’t see because of the rain, and because of one of those irritating blind spots.  It seemed that no matter how far I craned my neck, I just couldn’t peek around what was blocking my sight so that I could get a good look at the oncoming traffic.

Fortunately, the man who opened the path for me to begin with had a very good look at oncoming traffic.  And, fortunately, he had already anticipated my problem ... looking down the road to see if anything was coming.  Everything I couldn’t see, he was able to see in full view ... and when the coast was clear, he motioned for me to pull out and venture forward, for which I was most grateful.  I waved an ever appreciative “thanks” to the gentleman, and started to proceed to my desired destination.  Then, out of the blue, a thought occurred to me ...

Who was that man in the mini-van?

I don’t know him from Adam ... or Eve ... or anybody else for that matter.

And yet ... for a moment ... I had put my entire life in his hands, counting on his vision and his direction to guide me to a clear path.

Funny how that works ...

I trust my life to a guy I don’t even know...yet I claim that I know God, and wonder if I’m letting Him do the same thing.  I know He wants me to....that’s why He told me to trust Him with all of my heart, and to not lean on my own understanding.  Just acknowledge Him in everything I do, and He’ll make my path straight.

And with that, I conclude this traffic report...brought to you today by Proverbs 3, verses 5 & 6 ... reminding you to look to the One who opens your path ...then follow... and trust....His directions.

‘Cause even when we can’t see, He has everything in full view.
